Necator americanus adult worm - anterior end has 2 pairs of cutting plates compared with A. duodenale which has 2 pairs of ventral teeth and a pair of accessory teeth.. The adult N. americanis tend to be smaller than A. duodenale adults. Fix nematodes in 10 percent formalin. To examine: small nematodes can be mounted in glycerine or glycerine jelly ringed with nail polish or chlorlactophenol or dehydrated, cleared and mounted as permanent preparations.
